The Immerse Origin Story
Immerse began in a Syrian refugee slum back in 2017. After being fully immersed in the Middle East for three years, Quinn Taber (Founder and CEO) became conversationally fluent in Arabic while working with local NGO partners - and suddenly VR technology was on the rise. That's when the lightbulb moment happened. 💡
"What if virtual reality could be used for good to democratize language immersion for learners around the globe?"
Soon after, Quinn moved backed to California, raised angel investment from social impact investors, and started Immerse with three co-founders fixated on a radical vision and mission:

March 2017 – August 2019
Quinn moved back to the USA, hired the founding team, and, together, they created the first prototype app for immersive language learning on the Oculus Go VR headset.
September 2019 – February 2022
Seed Round ($2M)
While VR adoption grew in the consumer market, Immerse helped international language schools transform their 2D curriculum into immersive 3D experiences. This B2B growth helped our team learn quickly, grow through the pandemic, and transition to a 100% remote company.
March 2022 – Current Day
Series A ($9M)
Facebook became Meta and the Metaverse grew into a mainstream conversation. Immerse capitalized on being in the right place at the right time by raising $9M from social impact investors to launch the world's first direct-to-consumer language immersion learning app in the Metaverse.
