Immerse scoops Innovation of the Year at Prestigious Awards Program and showcases the effectiveness of its virtual reality English Language teaching platform.

IRVINE, June 9, 2021 --- We are delighted to announce that Immerse has been chosen as the “Language Learning Innovation of the Year 2021'' by the EdTech Breakthrough Awards.

The annual awards program recognizes excellence in educational technology, with winners from all over the world. The EdTech Breakthrough Awards search for innovative solutions and companies that solve a complex problem, address a gap in the EdTech industry, or revolutionize the market. This award shows that virtual reality, with its potential to deliver meaningful and engaging experiences, is considered to be an effective new medium for education by industry insiders.

Immerse’s mission is to support language schools by helping them offer more meaningful and effective language learning experiences using virtual reality. By creating a learning environment rich in emotional connection and social interaction, Immerse helps learners on their journey to fluency.

“Our global team of language education experts, VR developers and designers are passionate about helping language schools thrive,” said Quinn Taber, Immerse Founder & CEO. “We are thrilled to receive this 2021 EdTech Breakthrough Award in recognition of our passion and success in doing so.”

Immerse is an EdTech startup working right at the cutting edge of language teaching, making recognition from industry insiders important for the team.

“Winning an award at EdTech Breakthrough is a fantastic endorsement of our research-based, pedagogical approach to virtual reality teaching and learning,” says Head of Learning and Efficacy at Immerse, Sara Davila.

Awards from well-regarded organizations like The EdTech Breakthrough Awards are instrumental in helping Immerse to bring educational VR to language schools across the world.

“Current online learning and communications tools do not facilitate the engaging, collaborative working environments that are necessary for student-centered learning,” said Taber. “Our dream is to use Virtual Reality to give educators the power to bring these core aspects of language learning back into their teaching practice.”

Immerse is unlike any other language teaching platform that has come before it. Teachers deliver language lessons to their students through a specially designed VR learning platform. Students wear VR headsets and—guided by their teacher—students use avatars, explore scenes, manipulate objects and collaborate with their classmates to find solutions. It’s an exciting new world full of learning opportunities - and it delivers a measurable impact on learners’ language skills.

“For successful online learning, language learners need opportunities to fully immerse in a language,” said James Johnson, managing director, EdTech Breakthrough. “Whether it's classroom, distance, or hybrid learning, Immerse represents a breakthrough tool that delivers synchronous English language learning. Congratulations to the Immerse team on winning our ‘Language Learning Innovation of the Year’ award.”
